At a national level Australia, our allies and partners, are providing direct military and financial aid to support Ukraine\u2019s war effort; however, there remains an ongoing critical need at the grass roots level. Requests from the war zones, via their Australian family members and friends, continue for financial support to cover necessary and life-saving protective equipment and transport. These include: protective clothing and armour, thermal imaging equipment, drones, ambulances and vehicles to transport soldiers to and from the battlefields, and to evacuate the wounded from the front line.<\/p>\n
The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisation\u2019s (AFUO)\u00a0U-Help Fund,<\/strong>\u00a0humanitarian aid initiatives committee have been fundraising to grow an available pool of funds which can support eligible requests from Ukraine for life-saving protective equipment and transport.<\/p>\n An allocation of\u00a0$50,000<\/strong>\u00a0is now available to be distributed in multiple small grants to\u00a0 help and support family members of the Ukrainian community in Australia that are fighting on the ground in Ukraine.<\/p>\n The following amounts have been allocated to each state. This has been based on the number of displaced people living in the state.<\/p>\n New South Wales \/ ACT – $15,000<\/p>\n Victoria \/ Tasmania – $14,000<\/p>\n Queensland – $7,000<\/p>\n South Australia – $7,000<\/p>\n Western Australia – $7,000<\/p>\n If the community in an individual state does not make a request within two weeks, the money is transferred equally between the states where the funds have already been spent and there are new requests.<\/p>\n The Grant opportunity will be\u00a0open<\/strong>\u00a0for application on\u00a019.9.2022<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0close<\/strong>\u00a0to applications on\u00a03.10.2022<\/strong>, 5 pm (AEST).
