Thank You Woollahra Council!
On Saturday 24th August Woollahra Council hosted a morning tea and Ukrainian flag raising ceremony in honour of the Independence Day of Ukraine.
Deputy Mayor Sarah Swan spoke strongly in support of Ukraine, and noted that Woollahra Council had stood with Ukraine from the early days of the full scale invasion. Deputy Mayor Swan noted that Woollahra Council had:
Proposed a motion (unfortunately defeated) to rename Fullerton St Woollahra (the location of the russian consulate) to “Ukraine Street”
Put “Stand with Ukraine” blades on the street signs on Fullerton St
Removed free parking for russian diplomats on Fullerton St
Provided free exhibition space for two successful Ukrainian art exhibitions
Provided free access to Steyne Park Double Bay for our “Football for Ukrainians” program
Are providing free access to Steyne Park Double Bay and $7,000 in direct support for equipment for our upcoming “OctoberFamilyFest” on Sunday October 27 (a family friendly Ukrainian day)
Were lighting numerous Council assets in blue and yellow on August 24th
The UCNSW thanks Woollahra Council for its ongoing support of Ukraine and Ukrainians.
